Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Ambassadors (STEM Ambassadors)
As part of our STEM engagement in increasing the pool of young people interested in STEM subjects and following a STEM career, we support the STEM Ambassadors programme by offering our staff the opportunity to visit schools and colleges to share their enthusiasm and knowledge with students.
This programme, co-ordinated nationally by STEMNET, enables people with science, technology, engineering or maths skills to support teachers, by enhancing and enriching the relevant parts of the curriculum.
Teachers benefit through opportunities to:
- access enthusiastic and skilled volunteers who will support them in the classroom
- set up, expand and have extra support for extra-curricular clubs
- develop more varied teaching and learning styles
- update their knowledge of contemporary science, technology and research processes
- learn more about local companies and linking opportunities
